It was such a privilege to be asked to be the feature artist on UK urban producer, songwriter and bass player to the stars Fugi-roc’s debut single, ‘Dangerous’.
You lot may have Spotted Fugi-roc at my live shows. Not only is he my songwriting partner, he is also my musical director and is the man responsible for those amazing live shows of mine that you have seen, also the musicians that play for me.
The industry has been craving a release from him, having worked with the likes of Mariah Carey, bono and Leona Lewis…..its now his time!
So, the ‘dangerous’ journey. What can I say, it was an exciting one. The promo kicked off and immediately the track was featured in BBC radio’s “BBC Introducing”, followed by a live interview with both of us. Furthermore, initial DJ response showed full support of the track, which spurred the campaign along.
Fugi-roc and I were so busy with interviews! Have a look at the one we did for Westidefm, which included a live set: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MD0jZPjxU5s&feature=youtube_gdata_player
‘dangerous’ reached no 13 in the music week urban dance chart, which is such an achievement for a first release, especially as Fugi-roc is still unsigned.
in addition to these unquestionable achievements, the press the track received was also in abundance, with features from a number of online blogs, as well as magazines, lime and flava mag, being two of many. We thought we had had about as much props as we could for “Dangerous”, then in January of 2014, Crack magazine featured the track as their ‘Single of the month”, then the North London press release an article on both Fugi-roc, myself and the release.
I have to say though…..the peak of the entire campaign, for me has to be………wait for it………..the official video being added to footlocker’s worldwide playlist!
I still remember the day that one of Fugi-roc’s friends saw the video in store and took a pic….a feeling like no other.
we had so much fun shooting the video too, have a look at it if you haven’t seen it already:
